This
is the first sample library of its kind offered to the
industry and features the full range of Anthony's custom
Fodera
contrabass guitar. No looped notes or transposition of
notes were used in this production, therefore, offering
the highest integrity possible for each note, which is
sustained throughout the entire range and every articulation
of the instrument. Up to five levels of sensitivity (attack
velocity) were recorded for each note. |
Each
technique is performed on every note of the instrument. The
user is then afforded the extensive range of the contrabass
guitar and the facility to integrate the original sound of
Anthony Jackson's technique into their music. No other bass
library offers such an expanded note range and extraordinary
playability, including the low B string.
The broad palette of performance techniques include unique
articulations such as; palm muting, flat pick technique, and
open finger attack with open decay. The long, natural decay
offers an added dimension of fluidity, with sustained, unlooped
bass notes previously unavailable in any library. Their usefulness
has no limit: from slow, quiet passages of a modern jazz trio
to large scale orchestral accompaniment, from raw alternative
to classic rock.
John Thomas, veteran programmer for the collection has meticulously
edited the massive amounts of raw material to create a highly
usable library, capturing the entire range and nuance of the
contrabass. Each note has been edited and tuned for optimum
functionality. Although the already large files would be automatically
doubled in size, it seemed logical to offer both a live version
recorded through Anthony's Meyer Sound CQ-1 15" loudspeakers
and a direct version using the Millenia HV-3B pre-amp. The
musician is given the choice between using a direct, live,
or a blend of the two versions of each performance. The user
benefits greatly from the sound quality of the studios at
Clinton, which added to the depth and sheer power of Anthony's
performances.
The finest sound recording equipment and connections have
been used to reproduce the most realistic sonic images, allowing
the library to effortlessly blend and enhance all styles of
music composition.

The following equipment was used in the production of the
library:
- Prism
ADA-8 converter at 96kHz
- Millenia Media HV-3B pre-amp
- API 550b/500H dual EQ
- Wireworks, internal wiring and rack
- pair of Meyer
Sound CQ-1, self-powered 15" loudspeakers
- Neumann U47FET microphone
- Countryman direct box
- Monster Prolink 500 interconnect cables
- Azola cable (to the instrument)
- Fender Heavy picks for all picked articulation performances.
Above all, the practicality and usefulness of each articulation
was of primary importance in the composition of this collection.
The Anthony Jackson Contrabass Guitar Library was recorded
in New York City at Clinton
Recording Studios. The decision to record and archive
the entire library utilizing a Pro Tools HD system recording
at 24/96 and a state-of-the-art Prism
Sound A to D converter, was made to ensure the library's
continued usefulness well into the future.
The Anthony Jackson Contrabass Guitar Library is the first
and only comprehensive recording of the instrument. Surely
a one-of-a-kind library and indisputably a 'must have' collection
for all musicians composing and arranging music today. A sonic
powerhouse that will enhance any track from popular and alternative
music to film score. |
